Details
This 1956 Chevrolet 150 sedan, U.S. Government Ordnance Stock Number FSN 23103467561, was delivered in August 1956 to the Sioux Army Depot in Sidney, NE (built at the height of WWII in 1942 as a U.S. Army Ammunition Depot), for use as a staff car. It served at the depot until 1964, when it was sold at public auction. Purchased by a local farmer, the car was used as his daily transportation. The farmer passed away in 1965 and his brother (also a farmer) stashed the car in a barn. From there the
Chevrolet sat for years and was soon blocked in by broken-down combines and tractors. At some point, the brother rolled the windows down so his chickens could roost in the car, which quickly destroyed the original interior. The marks on the unrestored interior garnish moldings are still visible where the chickens scrambled in and out of the car for years. Sometime in the late 1990s the car was sold to a Chevy enthusiast in California, who took the car apart and had some of the body scrapes repaired and painted. Despite these fixes, most of the car retains its original paint. Landing with its fourth owner in 2018, the car was carefully brought back into complete running order. Since the car had not been started nor driven since 1965, a variety of mechanical repairs were performed, including rebuilt wheel cylinders, replaced rubber brake hoses, a new exhaust system, freshened-up fuel system and an entirely replaced interior. The original bumpers were tired and subsequently replaced with NOS Chevrolet parts. This Chevy 150 is powered by a 216ci inline-6 engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. This unique time capsule is offered for sale to benefit the Honor Flight Network, which recognizes our nation's veterans with all-expense-paid trips to the memorials in Washington D.C. - a trip many of our veterans may not otherwise be able to take. Now back in service and ready to be deployed once again, this 'survivor' Chevrolet is a well-preserved piece of Cold War military history. **100% OF HAMMER PRICE TO BENEFIT HONOR FLIGHT NETWORK** **WILL BE SOLD AT APPROXIMATELY 3:30 P.M. CT ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2021**
