Photography Guide
How should I prepare for my vehicle photos?
Prepare your camera or smartphone
Hold your device horizontally for better framing, using "standard" mode for most shots to prevent distortion. Keep the foreground in focus and avoid distractions in the frame.
Pick a good location for your shoot
Ideally, conduct your entire photoshoot outdoors, avoiding your driveway or house front. Choose an open or scenic location free of distractions such as other vehicles or people.
Ensure your car is clean before starting
Wash and dry the exterior, clean and vacuum the interior. Remove everything from the interior that is not going with the car. The car doesn't have to be professionally detailed, but it should be as clean as possible.
Seek out the best lighting
Take photos in open shade, overcast weather, or late afternoon sunlight if possible. If shooting midday, use solid shade, adjust car position as needed to avoid shadows or bright light, and if light is insufficient, move to a brighter area or shoot later.
Photograph the exterior
Front 3/4 view
Find a location with ample space and a clean background to highlight the front and side of the vehicle.
Ensure the front of the car is facing the main light source for even lighting and minimal shadows.
Clean the front windshield and headlights for a clear view and maximum visibility.
