LOT #107.1 – 1988 CHEVROLET K5 BLAZER SILVERADO EDITION CUSTOM SUV – SOLD!
The first day of the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, started with cool cars and hundreds of interactive sponsor and exhibitor displays in more than 750,000 feet of air-conditioned bliss. Tens of thousands of guests made their way through the gates at WestWorld on Thursday, October 10, setting the tone for an action-packed opening day.
The day’s excitement began with Barrett-Jackson’s Automobilia Auction, which got underway shortly after the gates opened. This beloved daily event showcases a diverse array of authentic automotive memorabilia with the day’s top sales highlighted by beautiful gas pumps perfect for any garage. Taking the top spot was Lot #9278, a late 1950s Esso Oil Wayne Model #505 gas pump, followed by Lot #9276.1, a 1950s Polly Oil Tokheim Model 300 gas pump and Lot #9274, a 1940s-50s Mobilgas Wayne 70 gas pump. Rounding out the Top 4 was Lot #9281, a 1950s Phillips 66 Bennett Model gas pump. The Automobilia Auction continues each morning throughout the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, and all Lots can be previewed online, in the Barrett-Jackson App or on-site in the automobilia area adjacent to the main auction stage.
The afternoon was all about collector cars, kicked off as bidders and enthusiasts gathered in the arena for the singing of the national anthem by Eleeza, 2022 Soloist winner of Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding. Thursday’s all-No-Reserve docket showcased over 200 vehicles, with auction highlights ranging from an 1988 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Silverado Edition custom SUV (Lot #107.1) to a 2008 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake (Lot #138).
Three spectacular collections began crossing the block on Day 1: The David M. Ressler Collection, the GM Pace Car Collection and the Laymon Family Collection, featuring everything from original Corvettes to custom trucks and Resto-Mods.
Beyond the cars, the Exhibitor Marketplace presented by Swisstrax drew in guests with its breezy energy and exciting elements and attractions. The Venezia Fine Arts display dazzled guests with statues of all sizes, while those looking for more personal artwork turned to the Inked display in Luxury Row for a fresh tattoo.
Other highlights included an exclusive look at a pre-production Lincoln Navigator in the Sanderson Lincoln display and the all-new Southwest Chef Showdown, an electrifying cooking competition featuring chefs of all skill levels ‒ from home cooks to seasoned professionals. Throughout the day, chefs faced off in timed challenges: two Open Chef challenges, the Bear Grills challenge and the Happy Hour challenge. Audience members had the unique opportunity to serve as judges for various competitions, a treat that will continue throughout the weekend. Adding to the excitement, renowned chef Mark Tarbell will make special appearances to judge the competition on Friday, October 11, and Saturday, October 12.
Another highlight of the day included the debut of the “Golden House” on the midway. This limited-edition mirrored home was created by OOD, an Estonian manufacturer known for its luxury tiny homes. Guests can step inside the nearly 300-square-foot interior throughout the weekend. In a nod to gold’s elemental number, only 79 of these shimmering gold tiny homes will be built, making this an exclusive opportunity to see this architectural marvel up close.
Continuing a beloved Barrett-Jackson tradition, the Opening Night Celebration took place the evening before the vehicles began crossing the auction block – this time in a Southwest chic, open-air setting. Guests enjoyed a lively night of entertainment, with The Party Crashers delivering energetic musical performances that kept everyone dancing well into the night.
