LOT #723 – 1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CUSTOM SPLIT-WINDOW COUPE – NO RESERVE
When it comes to American automotive icons, few cars stand out like the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window coupe. Revered for its unique one-year-only design and performance pedigree, this model holds a special place in the hearts of car enthusiasts. But when you take an already legendary vehicle and infuse it with modern power and cutting-edge technology, you create something extraordinary. Such is the case with a custom 1963 Corvette (Lot #723) is selling at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction with No Reserve, which is arguably one of the coolest Resto-Mods to hit the road.
At the heart of this Corvette lies an LS9 ZR1 V8 crate engine. With a polished supercharger gleaming under the hood, this engine comes to life with 638 horsepower and 604 ft/lbs of torque. The refined, race-bred energy from the modern ZR1 LS9 turns this classic ’Vette into a missile on wheels. Cooling this powerhouse is a custom aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, ensuring that the engine performs at its peak, whether the driver is cruising down the boulevard or tearing up the track.
The car’s drivetrain is equally impressive. Mated to the LS9 is a TREMEC TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission, a gearbox known for its durability and smooth shifts. This transmission channels power to a Dana 44 independent rear end, delivering both the acceleration and handling that would put many modern sports cars to shame. But speed is nothing without control, and that’s where the Hydratech hydraulic-assist braking system comes into play. With 6-piston Wilwood calipers on the front and 4-piston calipers on the rear, this Corvette can stop on a dime, providing confidence-inspiring braking performance.
The exterior of this Corvette is a testament to timeless style, finished in a shade of Mercedes-Benz Brilliant Silver that combines the Corvette’s classic roots and modern enhancements. Beneath this flawless finish is a red, powder-coated chassis from Street Shops, engineered to provide an ideal balance of rigidity with comfort. The suspension setup is fully adjustable, featuring coilover shocks on all four corners, allowing the driver to fine-tune the ride for any situation.
Stepping inside, the driver is greeted by a custom Porsche CanCan Red interior, a luxurious and unique choice that elevates this Corvette’s cabin. Created by Chuck Rowland Car Upholstery, the interior features one-off seats, a custom console and door panels that blend modern comfort with vintage style. High-end amenities like a Vintage Air system, power windows and a custom Focal sound system ensure that every drive is a pleasure, whether you’re heading to a car show or a weekend getaway.
This Corvette is as firmly planted to the ground as it is powerful. Like every other component of this build, the custom Schott wheels wrapped in Michelin performance tires were carefully chosen to complement the car’s overall aesthetic and performance. And with less than 550 miles driven since the build was completed, this Corvette remains as fresh and exciting as the day it rolled out of the shop.
In the world of custom cars, it can be hard to find a custom build that marries performance, style and heritage. This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe isn’t just cool because of its specs or its looks – it’s cool because it represents the pinnacle of what a classic car can be when given the right blend of modern technology and timeless design. Whether admired from afar or experienced behind the wheel, this Corvette is ready to find its next home when it crosses the world-famous auction block, October 10-13 at WestWorld. Register to bid today to make it yours.
