Rock ‘n’ roll music and the automotive world have shared an intertwined history that dates back to the emergence of Jackie Brenston and the Delta Cats’ iconic track “Rocket 88″ in 1951. Often considered the first rock ’n’ roll tune, this song not only marked a pivotal moment in music history but also paid homage to the Oldsmobile 88, solidifying the connection between the emerging genre of rock music and the world of cars.
Barrett-Jackson has a long and storied history of hosting some of the most revered musicians and bands as part of its auctions. Rock icon Bret Michaels captivated Opening Night Gala guests with performances in 2012 and 2014, and hip-hop sensation Vanilla Ice kick-started the 2014 Palm Beach auction weekend with a memorable special appearance during the opening-night festivities.
Operating under a shroud of secrecy, Barrett-Jackson secured the legendary Zac Brown Band as the headline act for the invitation-only 2016 Scottsdale Opening Night Gala. The surprised and delighted audience was treated to a phenomenal acoustic performance by the band during the unforgettable night, which celebrated Barrett-Jackson’s 45th anniversary.
Now, for the first time, Barrett-Jackson will host a full-blown opening-night concert in the 2024 Scottsdale auction arena and will offer an exclusive preview of the 2024 Barrett-Jackson Salon Collection vehicles and interactive manufacturer displays. This “Rock the Block” concert – presented by Arizona Lottery on Friday, January 19, 2024, at WestWorld – will include the rock band Foreigner with Night Ranger as the opening act.
Foreigner, celebrated for their 10 multi-platinum albums and 16 Top-30 hits, stands as a globally renowned rock band. Their extensive catalog of music, exceeding 80 million in album sales, not only continues to drive sold-out tours but also solidifies their position as one of the most beloved rock acts worldwide.
Renowned for their iconic rock anthems such as “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like The First Time,” and the global chart-topper “I Want To Know What Love Is,” Foreigner remains a significant force in the music industry after more than 40 years. Their enduring presence on the charts, continued success on the Billboard Top 200 albums list, and the fact that audio and video streams of their hits approach nearly 15 million per week demonstrate the enduring appeal of the band’s music.
The rock group announced its Feels Like The Last Time Farewell Tour on November 14, 2022, and the show scheduled for January 19 at Barrett-Jackson may be one of the final chances to witness this band’s live performance in Arizona.
Tickets to the auction, January 20-28, and the Rock the Block concert, January 19, are available on Barrett-Jackson.com.
