In a first for the collector car auction industry, a record-breaking number of VIN 001 and first-production vehicles from America’s top automakers are headed to the 2021 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction to sell for some very worthy causes.

2022 GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 VIN 001

Lot #3007 – 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 VIN 001

From General Motors comes VIN 001 of the incredible 2022 HUMMER EV Edition 1 (Lot #3007) – the world’s first all-electric supertruck. GM estimates the HUMMER EV’s three-motor e4WD propulsion system puts out 1,000 horsepower with 11,500 ft/lbs of torque, with a 0-60 mph run in approximately 3 seconds. Its 350 kW 800V DC Fast Charge is capable of charging nearly 100 miles in 10 minutes. Other jaw-dropping features include 4-wheel steer with CrabWalk diagonal-drive functionality and the Extreme Off-Road Package that even includes underbody cameras. Expect some heads to turn when this beast hits the block for a sale that will benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Our friends at Ford Motor Company are also bringing two superstars to the block. Bidders are sure to be clamoring for VIN 001 of the 2021 Ford Bronco (Lot #3008), a fully loaded Lightning Blue First Edition that combines the best parts of Bronco, including the mechanical components of the capable Badlands series and the blacked-out exterior of the Wildtrak. It includes the Sasquatch package with factory 35-inch tires and has seven G.O.A.T. modes to “Go Over Any Terrain.” It is powered by a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine that delivers approximately 310 horsepower and 400 ft/lbs of torque to a two-speed Advanced 4×4 system and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Fittingly, this first modern-day Bronco will be sold to benefit the National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound.

Ford’s second charity offering is equally as exciting – VIN 001 of the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 (Lot #3005), to be sold with the entire hammer price going to JDRF, which supports research to cure and prevent type 1 diabetes. This limited-edition Mach 1 features a 480-horsepower V8 engine, 6-speed manual transmission and track-ready Handling Package. Clad in Fighter Jet Gray, which is exclusive to the Mustang Mach 1, the exterior styling cues include a new front fascia and grilles, exclusive wheels, orange accents and special-edition badges that celebrate 50-plus years of heritage.

Another exciting charity sale is sure to be that of the first-production 2010 Ford Roush Mustang Barrett-Jackson Edition (Lot #3006), the first of only 25 built as part of a collaboration between Sherwin-Williams, Roush and Barrett-Jackson.

The special edition Mustang was donated by Chris Connor, retired Chairman and CEO of The Sherwin-Williams Company, to benefit the Michael Phelps Foundation, with the most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps himself, on hand to cheer on the sale.

Bidders in Scottsdale will also be vying for the right to own VIN 001s of the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V (Lot #3001) and CT5-V (Lot #3002) Blackwings – the most powerful Cadillacs ever. The CT4-V’s 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 produces 472hp and 445 ft/lbs of torque, while the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 in the CT5-V produces 668hp and 659 ft/lbs of torque.

GM is also bringing the first retail production of the 2020 Mid-Engine C8 Corvette Convertible (Lot #3003), for a sale that will help United Way for Southeastern Michigan. This new Corvette delivers 495hp and 470 ft/lbs of torque, making it the most powerful production Stingray ever.

A truck that’s had automotive media abuzz for months is the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition (Lot #3004) – known as the apex predator of the truck world. Sales in the U.S. were limited to just 702 units (which sold out in 3 hours) – but Stellantis (the new parent company of Ram) is headed to the Scottsdale Auction with VIN 001, to be driven home by one lucky bidder after a sale that will benefit United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

A 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (Lot #3000) raced by seven-time NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson will round out the charity car offering in Scottsdale in a sale that will help the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

This Lowe’s #48 race car competed in the 2003 Save Mart 350 at the legendary Sonoma Raceway road course, with Johnson charging from a 37th starting position through the field to finish in 17th place. After competition, the race car continued to help improve times at Hendrick Motorsports, serving as a road course test car during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

To date, more than $127 million has been raised to help worthy causes large and small, national and local, on the Barrett-Jackson auction block. The entire sale price of each vehicle goes directly to the charitable organization, as the company waives all fees associated with these special sales; the winning bidder writes a check directly to the designated charity.

Whether you’ve witnessed Barrett-Jackson’s charity sales in person or watched on television, you know those moments when a “car for a cause” crosses the auction block are something truly special. Members of the collector car community are known for their generosity and giving hearts, and that will certainly be evident at the 2021 Scottsdale Auction, March 20-27, where you’ll see the bidding escalate, the tears flow and cheers erupt as these exceptional vehicles are sold for some very special causes.
