Magnificent Chevrolet Resto-Mods to be Offered at Barrett-Jackson’s Inaugural Houston Auction, September 16-18

This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Custom Coupe (Lot #733) will cross the auction block with No Reserve at Barrett-Jackson’s Inaugural Houston Auction, September 16-18.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. ‒ August 24, 2021 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, will auction several beautifully crafted Chevrolet Resto-Mods at the Inaugural Houston Auction, September 16-18, at the NRG Center. Led by a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Custom Coupe and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Custom Coupe, these impressive vehicles will all cross the Houston Auction block with No Reserve.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Custom Coupe (Lot #770)
Completed in March of this year by renowned builder Jeff Hayes, the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Custom Coupe (Lot #733) began as a clean, original GM donor car and now features a brand-new LS3 Hot Cam engine with 540hp backed by a 4L70E automatic transmission. Sitting on an Art Morrison sport chassis with front and rear sway bars, this Resto-Mod features a slew of modern conveniences, including power steering, power windows, power hood, AM/FM Bluetooth stereo and Vintage Air heat and air conditioning.
The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Custom Coupe (Lot #770) finished in Lexus Indigo Ink Pearl will be one of the most coveted Resto-Mods at Barrett-Jackson’s inaugural Houston Auction next month. Professionally built over a three-year timeframe, this brilliant Chevelle features an L86 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 457hp paired with a GM 8L90E 8-speed automatic transmission. A recent Starbird Street Machine Top Choice award-winner, this Resto-Mod is equipped with a custom Charcoal Gray leather interior with TMI front seats trimmed with Medium Gray inserts and blue contrast stitching.
“These customized Chevrolets are amazing examples of the ever-popular Resto-Mod segment in our hobby today,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “The perfect fusion of classic style and modern performance, these particular vehicles crossing the block with No Reserve will attract a lot of attention from our bidders in Houston.”
With over 4,000 hours invested, a 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Custom Coupe (Lot #761) headed to Houston is nicknamed “The Ultimate Camaro: 598.” This breathtaking Resto-Mod is powered by an all-aluminum 598ci, 800hp Scott Shafiroff big-block engine, topped with Nelson Racing fuel injection and paired with a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission. Having reached speeds greater than 200 mph with its dyno-proven horsepower and its nitrous oxide system added, this Camaro is not for the faint of heart. Riding on Asanti-engraved 24-inch and 22-inch wheels with Pirelli tires, the hand-fabricated interior features Italian leather seats with blue accents, blue LED lights, a custom-fabricated console and an extensive Clarion sound system.
Another star Resto-Mod crossing the block in Houston is a remarkable 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Custom (Lot #762) known as “Elegance.” Finished in a one-off Champagne Mist, this custom vehicle is powered by a 505hp LS7 engine with street and performance polished accessories mated to a 4L65E automatic transmission. With many additional subtle custom modifications, this Corvette is decorated with numerous awards, including Gold at the Corvette Nationals in Chicago, Top-Ten Builder Choice at Goodguys Del Mar as well as the Detroit Great 8.
1962 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible (Lot #752)
The 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (Lot #752) is another Jeff Hayes-built custom Corvette heading to Houston next month. Featuring a ’62 body and a ’58 Corvette front grille atop an Art Morrison sport chassis, this Resto-Mod is powered by a 500hp GM LS3 Hot Cam crate engine with custom intake backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The custom paint features a mix of platinum flake and Pearl-Gray paint, and the custom interior features many amenities such as Vintage Air, Dakota Digital gauges, Jensen touchscreen interface, LED interior lighting and distressed red leather upholstery.
Also crossing the block in Houston is a remarkable 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Split-Window Coupe (Lot #763) powered by an LS3 6.2-liter crate engine producing 495hp backed by a TKO600-RR 5-speed manual transmission. The custom chassis was created by Corvette Chassis Concepts and features C7 suspension with coilover shocks, C7 Stingray brakes by Brembo and C7 Stingray wheels. Improvising on basic black, this Corvette is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic with an all-new black interior.
