Whats Under The Hood?

Description
This 1987 Polski FIAT 126P is about as basic as transportation got in communist Poland. The cars were built under Italian license by a firm called Fabryka Samochodów Malolitrazowych or FSM, literally 'The Car Factory.' A base 650E model, these angular little cars catch a lot of flack, but are actually a lot of fun to drive. This one is in unusually good shape, and runs great. The car's gray, black and white color scheme underscores its appliance-like utilitarianism, though it's still a handsome little thing with lots of character. The 652cc air-cooled vertical twin-cylinder engine is all stock and develops about 24hp. This is delivered to the rear wheels via a 4-speed transaxle, and total weight is just a touch over 1,300 pounds. This car was restored in Poland.
