Details
David Loring spent six months in Italy engineering and building the Denali with a little help from Eagle designer John Ward and Newman/Haas engineer Tony Cicale. The Denali Mazda made its debut at the 1986 Lime Rock Grand Prix in the Camel Lights GTP class. Loring finished first place with the Denali. David noted, 'We should never have beat those factory cars, but we beat Bob Earl in the factory spice.' The engine is a Wankel 13b two-rotor 1308cc with 297hp at 8,800 rpm and was built by Jerry's
Little Car Shop in Kent, WA. It's equipped with Gene Berg Enterprises 52mm x 2 Weber carburetor fed by a Carter fuel pump with Holley regulator, dual MSD 6AL-2 6421 ignition controls with two-step rev limiters and dual MSD blaster SS coils. The gearbox is a Hewland Mark 9, 5-speed transaxle with Carl Haas gear sets. It rides on BBS wheels wrapped with Goodyear tires 23.5 x 10.5-16' fronts and 25.5 x 14-16' rears. The Denali has built-in air jacks, a Lifeline fire system and is also wired for transponder and radio communication. It comes with a spare front clip painted to match, spare rear clip not painted, two spare windshields, spare wing, full set of BBS wheels with Goodyear tires, FAST cool-suit setup, Longacre computer scales, Longacre memory tire pyrometer, Longacre caster camber gauge, Dunlop CG/4-5 wheel camber castor, Kingpin gauges, Watkins smart chamber, Dunlop tracking gauges/optical alignment gauges, Mazda compression tester, two air jacks, Haas gear sets, Hawk brake sets, books, literature, notes and design drawings along with templets for the car.
