Details

The Quarter-Mile Cadillac was transformed by Jesse James from a 1981 Fleetwood Caddy to a quarter-mile dragster. Included in the car is a custom-built rear-end housing and drive shaft, and hand-made motor mounts, fire wall, dashboard, roll cage and radiator brackets. Additional acquired parts include the engine block, transmission, radiator, aluminum racing seat, fuel tank, electronic fuel ignition, two batteries, axles and internal housing. The team also modified the transmission for a better result. Parts of the car were removed in order to fit the motor. The team removed and cut out a large section of the hood to fit around it. They also cut out the Caddy's interior. This included removing the floor, trunk and wheel wells. This allowed the rear-end housing, roll cage and racing wheels to fit. The biggest challenge was building the new JEG'S engine and narrowing the rear end and chassis to fit the rear-end housing. These were the most important and time-consuming elements of the build. Pro Street Choppers owner Brett Hankins helped with the build of this pimped-out dragster. 'I'd say the biggest challenge was at the end, getting everything together and working out all the little bugs. I came to the Monster Garage to get this thing done, and I never doubted we'd get it done because I knew what I was willing to do to see it through.'
