The 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL equipped with the 6.9-liter engine was generally referred to in the company's literature as the '6.9' to distinguish it from the regular 450SEL. At the time it featured the largest engine of any non-American production car post WWII, the massive 6.9-liter engine, which was engineered during the height of the fuel crisis. The 6.9 also has the distinction of being among the first vehicles ever produced with optional electronically controlled anti-lock brakes.

Presented in black over a Bamboo leather interior, this example features Mercedes-Benz floor mats, burl walnut veneers and a sunroof. Garage-kept and accident- and rust-free, it's in good condition inside and out with no dings or scratches. It is completely original as it came from the factory and has been well-maintained. It's powered by a 6.9-liter 8-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. This 6.9 comes equipped with self-leveling hydro-pneumatic suspension and 4-wheel independent suspension, factory-equipped dry-sump engine lubrication system, electronically controlled anti-lock 4-wheel disc brakes, bi-level climate control, Becker Mexico radio and cassette player, power locks and power windows. The performance work on this model was done by Mercedes instead of AMG. The suspension, as well as the entire car, had a thorough inspection and service by a certified mechanic. The wheels are updated to the design that is correct for the car. It is a pet-free and non-smoking vehicle that includes a spare tire, floor mats, owner's manual and maintenance records.
