Details
This preserved 1979 Cadillac Coupe De Ville is a collector-grade example throughout. It is powered by the proprietary 425ci V8 engine paired with a Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission. The optional white leather interior is pristine throughout and the engine, engine compartment and trunk are all presented in OEM condition and consistent with the rest of the vehicle. It rides on factory steel wheels mounting wire-basket wheel covers and whitewall radial tires. A mainstay of Cadillac's
model lines since it debuted for 1949 as the first pillarless hardtop coupe produced, the Coupe De Ville profoundly influenced the American automobile industry. While competing manufacturers grappled with tightening emissions, fuel-economy and safety regulations throughout the 1970s, Cadillac continued to prosper, led by the Coupe De Ville. Select updates for the 1979 edition of the Coupe De Ville made a great luxury car even better than before. Among the many subtle refinements were new seat-belt reminder chimes, a new AM/FM stereo radio with digital display, a new dome lamp incorporating dual spot map lights and new electrically adjustable outside mirrors. Power brakes, power windows, power door locks, lamp monitors, cornering lamps, plus automatic climate control and 6-way power front seat were standard Coupe De Ville equipment. In addition to a wide array of paint colors, Coupe De Ville buyers could select from 11 leather seat colors or six colors of Durand knit cloth upholstery. Befiting its stature, the Coupe De Ville was the only Cadillac model available with a special Elk Grain Cabriolet vinyl roof option, offered along a selection of 17 colors. Additionally, this special rear roof treatment included opera lamps, a French seam surrounding the rear window, and a Cadillac crest and Coupe De Ville script to the sail panels. Internally designated Model 6C D47, the commanding Coupe De Ville carried a lofty base price of $11,728.
