Description
This corrosion-free 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer was purchased in California several years ago as a straight, unmodified Blazer, powered by a Motor City built and dyno-ed 6.2-liter V8 engine backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission. A cold case radiator and flow cooler transmission cooler provide robust cooling. Following complete disassembly, the frame was modified for the suspension, steering, large fuel cell and strengthened in several areas. The frame was powder-coated, as was each axle. Suspension components were fitted with premium off-road design products. The 3:73 rear axle is a heavy-duty half-ton unit. The 3:73 front Dana 44 has new ball joints, heavy-duty U-joints, heavy-duty tie rods and tie rod ends. Both axles are fitted with new Yukon carriers, gears, bearings and seals.The 700R4 automatic transmission is built for extreme duty. The NP205 transfer case is completely remanufactured and upgraded with bearings and seals, shift forks and shift plates, which are all fitted. The driveshafts are fitted with heavy-duty U-joints. The body was completely disassembled, blasted and professionally painted to concours-quality. The tailgate was modified by relocating the opening latch to the interior. The body, doors and top have all new glass, seals, wiring and electrical components. The fiberglass top was completely refurbished with a smooth finish, custom flush-mounted windows, new wiring and LED interior lighting. The interior is treated with heat and sound texture. The grille is finished in black chrome with an LED-lit blue bowtie. Other features include LED headlamps, turn signals and parking light units, as well as Tahoe tilt and reclining lumbar front seats done in blue, black and grey with armrests. The rear seats are tilt and removable. The large screen infotainment system with hidden antenna is crafted into the dash to accompany the Dakota Digital instrument cluster.
