Description

This custom 1972 Chevrolet El Camino EV pickup was built by Vintage Iron and Restoration and is powered by two NetGain HyPer9 electric motors producing 650 ft/lbs of torque at 9,000 rpm, connected to a Torque Trends torque box that sends power to the rear differential. This El Camino features custom metalwork closing off the engine bay and a polished aluminum cover that conceals the electric motors. It's also fitted with two large battery banks: one in the hood and the other in the bed. The charging and battery management is handled by two onboard Thunderstruck 3.3-kW charging units. Fully charged, this El Camino has an estimated range of 150 miles. The custom-built chassis has front and rear independent suspension, along with a Mustang II front suspension and a rear end from a 1992 Ford Thunderbird. It also includes electric power steering, 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes and QA1 coilovers. The vehicle's gross weight is 3,800 pounds with 47% front and 53% rear weight distribution. The bed is covered with a locking soft-style tonneau cover. The exterior is finished in custom-mixed black paint with gold flakes, and the truck rides on 17-inch American Racing VN510-series wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle tires. Interior features include Dakota Digital gauges, electric air conditioning, a custom-built center console and an audio system with a Bluetooth-equipped head unit. 1,941 test miles since completion. ** TITLED AS 1972 CHEV UNKNOWN**
