Description
This 1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a real Trans-Am, manufactured on February 1, 1971, at the Van Nuys, CA, production plant and is one of 2,116 built with a High-Output 455ci V8 engine with correct casting codes and producing 335hp and 480 ft/lbs of torque. This engine has been updated to fuel injection and features Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads, Doug's Headers long tubular metallic ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds, a stainless-steel MagnaFlow exhaust, an Edelbrock Victor aluminum intake manifold and a Fi-Tech fuel-injection system. The engine is paired to a 4-speed T10 manual transmission. The 1971 455ci engine is documented to be one of the fastest early Trans Ams produced for road use. This Trans Am retains the original Trim Tag and is equipped with power brakes. The fresh Black Vinyl (TR-219) interior features retrimmed seats in OEM factory material. According to the Build Sheet, this vehicle came equipped with factory air conditioning. The door panels, rear trim panels and carpeting are all presented in great condition. All interior chrome and brightwork is in excellent condition. The leather-trimmed Trans-Am-style steering wheel is mounted to tilt steering column, with a billet chrome inlay dash. The dash pad is clean and free of any dry spots or cracking. The headliner is excellent and features a Body by Fisher riveted plate. The exterior is finished in factory Cameo White (PNT-11) with a blue Trans Am hood decal. It features a blue racing stripe with black trim and the exposed hood intake, as well as chrome brightwork and body panels. The body gaps on this Trans Am are correct, and the undercarriage and floor pan have been refinished/detailed. All glass and lenses are original and crack-free, and it has a chrome rear bumper. It was upgraded with 20-inch American Racing alloy wheels. Extensive restoration and upgrades to this coupe were completed by a marque professional and total more than $64,000, excluding the original value of the car, with documentation included. Photos taken during the build process are included in the sale to document the work performed. A professional appraisal from August 28, 2018, and less than 700 miles ago, shows a value of $92,000. This Trans Am is accompanied by its restoration history, photos from during the restoration, a hardcover coffee-table book and spare master keys. It also includes the owner's manual, original brochures, a copy of the original Build Sheet, decode of the Body Tag, photos of the castings, a decode/investment breakdown and Pontiac Historical Society paperwork. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
