Details

This 1971 Buick GS convertible has undergone a comprehensive, professional, off-frame, rotisserie restoration to the highest degree. Production records show that only 902 convertibles were manufactured, only a small percentage had air conditioning, a smaller percentage yet had a 4-speed and even less had the Stage 1 options. The Cowl Data Tag reveals that the exterior color is Regal Black, Code '19', with a black bucket seat interior, Code '168', and a black convertible top, Code 'B'. The Flint,

Michigan plant, indicated by the 'H' in the VIN, was designated to be where the very highest performance Buicks were to be built. The 455cid engine is casting #1231738 with casting date B-23 which signifies February 23, 1971. The Stage 1 option, Code 'TS', consists of special ported and polished cylinder heads with huge valves that nearly touch, a re-curved distributor #1112016 dated 1 C 15, special performance camshaft, high volume fast flow long fuel pump, re-jetted quadro-jet carburetor #1041242, high pressure lubrication system, 10.5 to 1 compression, posi-traction, and for appearance, an all chrome dress-up kit. Buick's cool dual induction also enhances performance. All of this is backed by the Muncie close ratio 4-speed gearbox, Hurst shift linkage, 11' Super Duty clutch and a 3.64 posi-traction rear axle. These components were brought together in Flint and the vehicle was built March 8-12, 1971. This Buick is equipped with the above performance options and the following comfort and convenience options and accessories: power steering, power disc brakes, power top, Super Sport chrome wheels, Ralley steering wheel, floor console, consolet shift plate, hood tachometer, courtesy lamp package throughout, Soft Ray shaded glass date code 'XN-10', raised white letter wide ovals, Ralley electric clock with quartz movement, AM/FM sound system, air conditioning and the rarely ever seen specially sized N-25 outlets which release the exhaust through the bumper. The attention to detail is evident. The overall fit and finish is impeccable. It has never been offered and this is the first time it has been shown.
