Details
1970 GT500 convertible Number 1708 is factory equipped with the ultra rare Drag Pack option, including a 428 Super Cobra Jet engine with external oil cooler, 4-speed and V code 3.91 locking rear. It is also one of the first Shelbys with the extra heavy duty (XHD) suspension to accommodate the new Goodyear F60-15 Polyglas tires. Number 1708 is one of only 10 4-speed 1970 Drag Pack Shelby convertibles produced. Rare Grabber Orange with white top and interior. Exported new to Spain as a Ford factory showing car, it remained in Europe until 2005, when it returned to the United States. Each 1970 Shelby is actually an updated 1969 model, the only known instance where a manufacturer received Federal permission to change the designated model year of existing vehicles. This required that they pass through three separate Michigan assembly plants, where they were hand finished.
