Top-of-the-line 429 Cobra Jet big block rated at 360hp. It was a potent engine, but adding the optional Drag Pack upgraded the 429 to the Super Cobra Jet (SCJ) specification, featuring 4-bolt mains, high-compression forged aluminum pistons, a solid lifter camshaft, adjustable rockers, 780cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor and external oil cooler. All 429s were equipped with a Hurst-shifted T-10 and the Drag Pack included a Traction-Lok 3.91:1 or Detroit Locker 4.30:1 rear end. While most discussions

of the 429 SCJ assume the subject to be a fastback coupe or convertible, there were actually six exceptions to this in 1970 in the form of the Ranchero pickup body style, this is one of those exception vehicles. This 1970 Ranchero 500 429 SCJ presents a dream list of options and equipment for any Ford enthusiast. Beautifully finished in its original Candy Apple Red with a white vinyl roof, it's equipped with the trademark Shaker-style Cobra Jet Ram Air Hood scoop, power steering, power brakes with front discs and Firestone wide oval tires on upgraded Magnum 500 wheels. The original red bench seat has been replaced with deluxe white comfort weave bucket seats that are a perfect visual match to the inner door panels and white vinyl roof. A Hurst shifter with aluminum T-handle, tachometer and factory-correct console complete the interior. This unique Super Cobra Jet Ranchero is also accompanied by a Marti Report.
