Description

Summary

Original Hugger Orange early production, California built Camaro custom restored as a ZL1 COPO re-creation.

Details

Original Hugger Orange early production, California built Camaro that was originally titled in Nevada. The car retains its original floor, trunk pan, quarters, doors, fenders, hood, bumpers, rocker panels, frame rails and subframe. Exterior finish is DuPont base coat/clear coat. The undercarriage is a combination of powder coat and DuPont products, to duplicate or exceed the original look and finish. This car shows fantastic fit and finish, with beautiful body lines. The drivetrain was missing

when the car was bought by the current owner. Therefore, it was built to ZL1 specs with a standard bore GM 427 aluminum engine with 12:1 compression ratio. The 115cc open chamber 074 heads are dated 12/4/68 and 12/18/68. Components include a solid lift, flat tappet cam, 850 CFM Holley carburetor without a choke, a smog system and a chambered exhaust system. The engine assembly was professionally built, balanced and blueprinted by Pete Teasdale of Teasdale Automotive, Jonestown, PA. Baker Outlaw Fuel Systems dyno tuned this engine, which produces well over 500hp on 93 octane pump gas. The power is connected to the rear wheels through a Centerforce dual-friction clutch, through the M22 Rock Crusher transmission, to the 12-bolt 4.10 posi-traction rear axle. The engine is cooled by an original 4-core curved-neck radiator with the correct fan blade and fan clutch. The suspension is finished off with factory replacement spiral shocks, power disc brakes, five correct Goodyear tires, poverty caps and painted wheels. The completely restored interior includes new seat covers, headliner, door panels and a restored AM radio.
