Details

Unique and collectable, the Ultra Van motorhome is in a class by itself. 'Buckskin', Ultra Van #346, is a true, Class A motorhome. Just 22' long, it is over 8' wide with more than 6' of headroom. Aircraft type construction allowed these units to weigh about 3500 pounds originally. The renovation of 'Buckskin' has included carburetors being cleaned and rebuilt. Valves adjusted on engine. New oil and filter. New air cleaner element. Engine was tuned up. All brake components were inspected. All internal hydraulic items were rebuilt. The body was painted with durable Imron paint. Roof was painted with special RV rubberized paint. The floor was painted. The wood floor in this coach is in very good condition. New upholstery installed. The Wilson Art laminate was cleaned and polished. It is in very good condition. New windshields and front sliding glass installed. Two new roof vents were installed. Exhaust headers were installed along with Harley Davidson mufflers. Four new 14' 8 ply LT tires installed. The previous owners had the engine rebuilt. Have repair tickets totaling over $4,000. A new clutch assembly installed. This coach has been converted to a manual 4-speed transmission. The Ultra Van was designed in the early sixties by David Peterson, a professional aircraft designer. These units were produced in limited quantities by the Ultra Van Corporation of Hutchinson, Kansas until June of 1970. Has a true monococque structure, the Ultra Van has no chassis. It is constructed like an airplane with aluminum ribs covered with riveted sheet aluminum. The compound curved areas are fiberglass. All wheels are independently sprung.
