Produced for just one model year, this 1968 428 Cobra-Jet powered 1968 Shelby GT500KR is one of just 1,053 fastbacks produced during the three-month KR production run from late April to July 1968. This is the only KR invited and displayed in the Shelby American Museum and was there for 10 years. This GT500KR is powered by a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 engine and is one of only 125 manual GT500KR fastbacks equipped with the Toploader 4-speed manual transmission, 3.00 Traction-Lok axle ratio and one of manual cars with air conditioning. The KR was professionally restored by a Shelby expert in 2010 and would go on to win the 'Trifecta' of judged Shelby events that summer. Awards include top honors at the Mid-America meet in Tulsa, OK, plus Gold at the Mustang Club of America Grand National in Bellevue, WA, and Gold at the Sonoma, CA, SAAC-35 convention. This example is finished in Candy Apple Red paint over black knitted Decor bucket seats.
