1968 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS CUSTOM COUPE

Details

This project started with an original rust-free SS car that underwent a complete pro-build from the ground up by Hi Speed Rod and Custom in Tucson, AZ. No expense was spared in the making of this Chevelle. Power is supplied by a GM crate 502ci RamJet engine rated at 502hp and 565 ft/lbs of torque. Multiport fuel injection makes it run very smooth. The RamJet is backed by a built 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission with Hughes Performance converter. The suspension was upgraded to tubular

control arms and polyurethane bushings throughout. The Air Ride Technologies air-ride system is fully adjustable and provides an amazingly comfortable ride. Oversized sway bars add to its excellent drivability. Top-of-the-line Baer power disc brakes with slotted rotors on all four corners provide the stopping power. This custom is also equipped with power steering and a Currie 9' rear end with a 3.73 gear ratio and posi-traction. It rolls on custom-made Budnik 19' and 20' rims with two-tone satin finish. Every panel in the completely custom interior was handmade and formed to fit the body like a glove. Every interior panel, including the floor and roof, is layered with sound-deadening mat and foam, making for an ultra-quiet and cool ride. The trunk is finished to match. The dashboard was modified and smoothed with a custom gauge panel using Stewart Warner Maximum Performance gauges. Comfort features include a Vintage Air heat and air-conditioning system, power windows, tilt steering, electric doors and an amazing sound system. The paint and bodywork on this car is of outstanding quality; laser-straight with excellent body gaps and detail throughout. The Burnt Orange Metallic paint was custom-mixed, and all brightwork has been finished in brushed nickel.
