Description

This Fairlane has been restored and updated for regular use. It runs and drives wonderfully. The car has been repainted in the original Frost Turquoise color. All exterior trim and badges have been replaced, polished, and/or painted as needed. It has new door handles, light lenses, gaskets and weatherstripping. Interior work included new interior paint, kick panels, carpet, headliner, sun visors, new seat covers with correct NOS upholstery, rear package shelf, bulkhead panel between rear seat and trunk, and sound deadening. It also has new window cranks, door handles, turn signal lever, gear shift knob, gear indicator trim, brake pedal pad and trim and myriad other small pieces. The instrument cluster was disassembled, cleaned, and refurbished. The door panels were refinished and rear armrests replaced. The original AM radio remains, but there is a modern AM/FM/HD/CD/MP3 stereo unit under the dash, with 6x9 speakers in the package shelf and a pair of smaller speakers mounted in place of the original front speaker. A 302ci V8 from a 1998 Ford Explorer now sits in place of the original 200ci straight six. It has a rebuilt C4 transmission and rebuilt 8'rear end. The engine retains the modern serpentine belt system and modern accessories but is now carbureted. There is a massive aluminum radiator with a custom-fabricated shroud for maximum cooling. The car also features a Vintage Air system. All climate control is through the new, modern, efficient system with a new heater core and cold air with R-134A refrigerant. Upgraded chassis features a Monte Carlo bar under the hood and subframe connectors under the floor, so the car's body is much stiffer now than even when new. The entire front suspension was replaced with new, including the springs, and the sway bar replaced with a much larger unit. The rear leaf springs and shocks were also replaced. The front and rear brakes were also overhauled.

Restored for everyday use. Features a 302ci motor from a '98 Explorer, Vintage Air, rebuilt automatic transmission and rear end. New front and rear suspension, upgraded chassis. New paint, interior, and trim.
