Description

Summary

P2415 Daytona Ken Miles Special Edition. Powered by a Ford Performance 5.2-liter Aluminator engine with custom cams and a Borla 8-stack EFI. Has 15-inch Halibrand-style wheels wrapped in Goodyear Sportscar Special tires. Special-ordered VIN.

Details

This P2415 was special-ordered from Superformance to be the first of three GT40s to have their chassis numbers linked to the original cars and commemorate Ford's racing success in 1966. P2415 celebrates the first win of the 1966 season by honoring Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby's drive to victory at Daytona. Its special chassis number denotes the race and the winning GT40 from that race; '24' for the Daytona 24 and '15' for P1015. This special GT40 MK2 features details of the original car exterior finish, including deleting the rear clamshell periscope scoop brake ducts, an asymmetrical paint scheme with red patches and a unique font for the 98. P2415 rolls on a set of 15-inch Halibrand-style wineglass GT40 wheels wrapped with Goodyear tires and an original-style knock-off setup. It is powered by a Ford Performance 5.2-liter Aluminator crate engine with Ford Europe GT4 race cams and a Weber-appearing Borla 8-stack fuel-injection system paired with a Mendeola 5-speed transaxle. This car is equipped with a custom-made set of stainless-steel Bundle of Snakes headers. The left-hand-drive configuration from the factory offers a wider driver's seat and a center-mounted shifter. The original-style dash layout is complemented by a one-off set of Speedhut gauges featuring a red-faced tachometer and GT40 logos. Rear visibility is improved with a rear backup camera. Original-style seats are in unmodified condition but special-ordered with gold grommets. This special GT40 is the very first Superformance GT40 finished in the winning 1966 Daytona Miles/Lloyd livery; only one other GT40 has since been finished in this livery. In September 2021, this GT40 was featured at the Shelby Collection Anniversary event in Boulder, CO, where Ken Mile's son, Peter, honored the car by signing the dash. In addition, the P2415 has won the regular-season GTR class championship in Optima's Search for the Ultimate Streetcar and the GTR Cup at SEMA in the 2022 Ultimate Streetcar Invitational.
