Description
This 1966 RCR Ford GT40 MKII P/1032 re-creation pays homage to one of eight GT40 MKIIs that competed in the 1966 Le Mans Race, which Ford won. Completed in October 2023, this tribute is powered by a new Shelby 427ci FE engine with a Shelby medium-riser intake, Holley single 780cfm with correct linkage and a Bundle of Snakes exhaust with no mufflers, along with an RBT ZF transaxle 5-speed. It is equipped with braided lines where appropriate, Continental aircraft coolers, Marchal driving lights, three vintage-era Stewart-Warner fuel pumps, a turkey pan with clear velocity stack and correct hold-down. It includes an Aviaid dry-sump system with an MKIIA dry sump oil tank in front. It also has handmade cooling lines, correct valve covers and storage boxes as required for the race in 1966 by Le Mans. All ducting, vents and intakes were built correctly. The car is finished in the correct Emberglo paint with flat color-matched green enamel in place of the original Day-Glo Green, which is delicate and not stable in light. The exterior features a correct vintage wiper blade and arm, along with a period-correct roof-louver panel. This GT40 is right-hand drive and right-hand shift and features an MKIIA dash with correct aircraft switches and instrument lights, along with a period-correct fire extinguisher. The fuel input system has two tanks with one filler and crossover tube as original, a Tilton pedal box with Wilwood brakes and calipers, Autolite battery in the correct location, OEM rearview mirror and a fabricated mirror mount as original. There are many hand-fabricated items to match the original Holman & Moody-prepared car. It is riding on 15-inch wheels and correct reproduction Firestone tires. **TITLED AS 1966 UNKNOWN RCR40 MK11**
