Summary

Rotisserie-restored at a cost of $275,000, this Pro-Touring 442 is powered by a 455ci engine built to a 490ci V8 backed by a 6-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Numerous modifications, upgrades and options.

Details

Finished in 2016 with the latest innovations and $275,000 invested in the build (with documented, itemized receipts included), this Pro-Touring 442 is dialed in and ready to be driven. Beginning with a solid Texas car, the body was stripped bare and put on a rotisserie to be meticulously restored meticulously from every angle. The laser-straight body parts were gapped, making sure everything is flush and square. It was then painted in Viper Red and fitted with all-new, properly fitted glass,

show-quality chrome, notched rear bumper for the exhaust and 17-inch billet Rally wheels wrapped in red line tires. The convertible frame was restored with an upgraded black cloth top that fits correctly and a clear rear window. Electronic 7-speed wipers and billet hood hinges were also installed. On the inside, the custom front seats have wide bolsters and back support but have been upholstered to look stock. Fabricated ductwork connects to factory outlets, and the climate controls were updated with electronics. It sports custom-made stainless overlays on the console and instrument panel, all-new wiring and updated fuse block, custom electronic gauges, and a custom stereo system with Bluetooth, focal speakers, subwoofer, amplifier and hidden antenna. It also features a Flaming River tilt column with sport wheel, power windows, power top, power locks using a remote and a factory vacuum gauge. The trunk compartment has been boxed and custom-upholstered, and behind the panel is the battery with a built-in charger. The engine compartment displays several unique hand-built components and houses a bored, balanced and stroked 455ci engine, making it a 490ci V8. The engine is equipped with a COMP roller cam, Harland Sharp roller tip rockers, forged pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, double roller timing, chain 8-quart oil pan and high-capacity pump. The custom fuel-injection system features a Mondello Posi Flow intake, Fast XFI 2.0 system, engineered fuel injection with sequential port injectors, machined fuel rails and throttle linkage. The air box is a one-of-a-kind piece, handcrafted out of aluminum with Ram Air tubes through the grille like a W-30. It also features MSD dual sync ignition; the MSD box was hidden under the dash using a fabricated bracket. The headers were handcrafted from stainless steel, and a March serpentine belt and pulley system with billet brackets, Type II power steering with remote reservoir, and Vintage Air system with polished components were custom installed. The wiring and plumbing were hidden behind the fender and a custom frame support was made for the aluminum Griffin radiator with dual electric fans. The firewall was made smooth to round out the under-hood look. The engine is connected to a completely custom, TCI-built Turbo 400 transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive, making it a 6-speed automatic with a breakaway 2,100 stall torque converter. The transmission mount had to be refabricated, the driveshaft shortened and the floor tunnel completely remade. The exhaust system is custom-fabricated with big 3-inch stainless pipes, stainless MagnaFlow mufflers, resonators, crossover pipe and trumpet tips, as well as a stainless fuel tank with internal Aeromotive pump. Stopping power is provided by Baer drilled and slotted disc brakes at all four corners utilizing a Hydrotech power brake booster and Wilwood master cylinder, and an all-new E-brake assembly. In back it has a new Moser 12-bolt rear end with 3.55 posi-traction gears, 35-spline axles and aluminum cover. The custom suspension features Global West fat tubular control arms, 1-1/8-inch sway bar and KONI Red gas shocks. Included with this custom 442 are multiple trophies, car cover and top boot.
