Details
This custom 1965 K-Code Ford Mustang Fastback GT is a San Jose-built car. It is powered by a HiPo Ford 289ci block engine that has been bored .040 over and features Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads, a Shelby Cobra oil pan, Shelby aluminum intake manifold, aluminum water pump, Tri-Y headers, a hydraulic COMP Cams camshaft, Erson 1.6 ratio rockers and runs on 93 octane pump gas. The engine is mated to a T5 5-speed transmission with Shelby GT350 modifications. The engine also features a Holley 715 CFM LeMans-style reproduction carburetor with side pivoting floats to prevent fuel starvation when cornering, along with a correct Ford Dual-Point-style distributor with a PerTronix ignition. The engine compartment features the original-type 4-blade fan, radiator, radiator shroud and yellow top ignition coil. Its suspension includes a Ford 9-inch rear end with Currie housing and axles with 3.50 gears, which are a perfect match for the lower first gear of the BorgWarner world-class T5 transmission. It features front disc brakes, along with larger-than-stock rear drums, as was true with original 1965 Shelby GT350s. The front suspension features a Shelby drop of 1 inch, with the Shelby Pitman and idler arms for quicker steering, along with the factory quick-ratio steering box, Ford Export brace with a reinforcing plate on the cowl, KONI shock absorbers and 600-pound coil springs. It also has a stiffer front crossmember than the stock example, which includes a hard point for a jack pad. The rear suspension features new adjustable Viking shocks and leaf springs from Maier racing. This Mustang's battery has been relocated to the trunk, as were the first few hundred
original 1965 Shelby GT350s. It rides on 14-inch Shelby 10-spoke aluminum wheels with new Cooper Cobra tires. The rear shocks can be adjusted to front and rear if so desired. The interior features a color change from the original red to black, Shelby dash pod for the tachometer and oil pressure, 4-point properly installed roll bar, Shelby-style aircraft front seat belts and a wooden steering wheel with a functional horn button. The dash has no cracking or splitting. The carpets are factory-style. It features 1966 Shelby quarter-windows and original floor pans, with most body panels. This is an original Silver Mist car. The back window is Ford Carlite marked, with the original Trim Tag on the door. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
