Details

Muscle car collector Bill Goldberg is bringing his 1965 Dodge A-990 HEMI re-creation car to Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale. This car was built by Bill and documented on the pages of 'Mopar Muscle' magazine. Goldberg's goal was to build a 1965 Dodge A-990 re-creation that looked like it stepped out of the mid-1960s with the best of today's performance equipment. Goldberg started with a California Black Plate, rust and accident free, 1965 Dodge Coronet bought from the estate of the original owner,

a 93-year-old woman. He completely disassembled the car for the transformation from Grandma's grocery getter into a re-creation of one of Dodge's most feared factory race cars, the HEMI-powered A-990. Goldberg went to America's HEMI engine builders, Indy Cylinder Heads, for the HEMI engine, where in conjunction with Goldberg, they created the Who's Next 526cid/650hp Street Legend HEMI engine. Only 20 of these special engines were built and the engine in this car is #1 of that series. The 650hp Who's Next HEMI engine breathes through a set of TTI headers connected to an all stainless 3' diameter exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. This powerful engine is backed by a specially built A&A TorqueFlite and an 8 3/4 rear end with Strange gears and axles. The K-member and all the suspension components have been powdercoated. Goldberg stressed accuracy in the period look of the car as exemplified by the large HEMI hood scoop, the unique A-990 grille and 5-spoke American mag wheels. The interior follows the original theme with vintage Sun tachometer, Dodge van bucket seats, and heater, radio and rear seat delete. In the Goldberg tradition, this car was designed and built to be driven.
