The 1964 Dodge 440 was considerably cleaned up from its 1963 rendition for its Golden Anniversary year, losing its front end layout for a clean, stainless full width grille featuring paired headlights at each end. The B-series could be had in three trim levels that year: the base 330, mid-grade 440 and premium 500. For most racers opting to go fast, the 330 was also the lightest version, and many selected it when ordering a 12.5:1 compression Maximum Performance Ramcharger III wedge engine with lightweight aluminum body panels. Therefore, Don Fezell was glad to find this 440-trim Dodge authenticated as a true lightweight factory Max Wedge Dodge. The 440 series received better interior components and some additional bright trim, but this one also got an even more important option: the new-for-1964 A833 4-speed manual transmission. To have the lighter pieces installed, the high-compression version of this engine needed to be ordered. The so-called Stage III 426ci V8 engine was the most advanced of the wedge race-motor series, with better heads and valvetrain components. From the Cross-Ram intake and high-flow factory manifolds to the trunk-mount battery, it is pure power. The car is correctly finished with an Ivory exterior, including inset gold trim for the 50th anniversary of Dodge, and came with a gold bench-seat interior featuring a radio and heater. This car also has backup lights and a lightweight steel bumper. Proudly completed under the direction of Don Fezell with all the proper equipment.
