Detroit's Big Three swore off racing in 1957, largely under pressure from the safety lobby, yet within a few years they were back at it sneaking special parts and low key technical support to all manner of drivers and mechanics, unofficially of course. The SS proved popular and immediately became an Impala sub-series. Enhancing its appeal for 1963 was Chevrolet's new 'Jet Smooth' big car styling, a crisp broad shouldered look that helped sales soar beyond 150,000. Optional small blocks were
offered up to 340hp and the real fine 409 big block packed 425hp depending on your courage and budget. A manual 4-on-the-floor was available, but a '63 Impala in any form was and still is a great way to go. This particular Impala has received a complete ground-up restoration. It is powered by a non-original big block engine and a 4-speed manual transmission that resembles the original appearance. Also, added for street driving appearance and convenience, it includes the Super Sport 'SS' trim, power steering, power disc brakes, bucket seats, console, tachometer, stereo system and nostalgic Torque Thrust wheels with radial tires. It is ready for show or go. It runs and drives as well as it looks. No disappointments.
