Details

This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Re-creation by D&D Motors is finished in the classic blue and white exterior with a dark blue interior. It is powered by an HO 454 GM crate engine producing 425hp paired with a M20 Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. It features a 4-inch custom-built chassis in black powder coat, Hurst shifter, Sweet Steering rack & pinion, 32-gallon fuel cell, aluminum radiator, Dana 44 rear differential, and front and rear anti-sway bars. It also is equipped with an aluminum radiator, TRACO-style big-block Chevy calve Covers, Holley 750 cfm vacuum secondary, custom headlight plexiglass covers, a March serpentine pulley system and an electric cooling fan. It sits on a Corvette suspension with a D&D one-piece fiberglass body and custom-built low-noise side pipes. The interior has custom carpet with Dynamat, Ididit tilt steering column, custom fiberglass seats and upholstery, heater, custom 6-point roll cage, 5-point seat harness system and AutoMeter gauges. It has been stored in the owner's climate-controlled 'Dream Car Garage' and has been driven only 81 miles. The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport was created to win FIA endurance races and compete against the venerable Shelby Cobra and Ferrari GTO. Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov furthered the development of a lightweight 1963 model featuring an aluminum-block 377ci V8 engine that developed more than 550hp intended to race in the 1963 24 Hours of Le Mans. Chevrolet planned on producing 125 examples, but only five were said to be completed and wound up in the hand of private racing teams. Then along came a man who had a passion for Corvettes, particularly Grand Sports, and decided he was going to build a replica of the 1963 Grand Sport. William 'Dean' Hoskins of Akron, OH, knew the Corvette and racing world very well. Hoskins took measurements from the 005 original Grand Sport and set out to make his own cars. By 1990, D&D Motors had begun building their own cars. Hoskins and his partner, Dante Lombardi, bought a 1964 Corvette coupe, which was used to make the molds.
