Details
This custom-engineered 40-foot motorcoach started life as a 1962 Silver Eagle Model 1 that was ordered and operated by Continental Trailways and remained in use until 1979. The conversion was performed over 11 years by Northwest Coach Conversions and was completed in 1992. The engine was upgraded to a 12.1-liter 8V92T Detroit Diesel turbo-diesel V8 and the transmission was upgraded to an Allison 4-speed automatic transmission. The larger Detroit Diesel engine is rated at 430hp and 1,186 ft/lbs of torque. The coach was built to marine yacht construction standards that include a 12-kilowatt Kohler marine generator that easily powers the coach's three air conditioners, 220-volt dryer and heating systems. Aiding the generator and the Detroit Diesel in cold-weather starting is a Webasto diesel water boiler that keeps the equipment warm and heats the coach's walls, floors and luggage compartments, fed by a 300-gallon diesel tank that translates to a 2,400-mile range between fill-ups. Other features include two 1200-watt trace inverters, 200-gallon fresh-water tank, Bigfoot levelers, Green Gripper brakes and a Jake brake for downhill braking. The engine exhaust system is completely heat-wrapped and channeled and exits through the roof, which was raised 10 inches. Other custom metalwork includes custom bumpers, Alcoa wheels and stainless-steel 'lightning bolts' down the side. The Sikkens paint and murals took over 5 months to complete and are covered in five coats of clear. The 'no slam' entry door is electronically operated and mechanically pulled shut. Up front features 6-way side-by-side pilot and co-pilot front seats, power steering and a tilt telescoping steering column, along with surround sound, circular entry with brass handrail and dual 2-foot-by-4-foot glass skylights in the living room and kitchen. The interior features include an Austrian Schonbek Crystal chandelier and sconces, Victorian mirror, solid walnut cabinetry and opening skylights in the shower and bedroom. It also features a remote-controlled satellite dish, Corian countertops, brass fixtures, Italian-etched tiles and a Corian floating dining table with upholstered seating for six. Appliances include a Gaggenau propane stove, built-in microwave, apartment-sized stacked washer and dryer, Norcold AC/DC refrigerator with ice-maker and separate freezer, Insta-hot water dispenser, garbage disposal and a trash compactor. Intake water is filtered two times through filters, and then kitchen and ice-maker water is filtered a third time by a Seagull bacteria-free micro-filter. The interior was insulated with foam and scrim-reinforced metalized mylar, and the wood floor was routed out to accommodate the plumbing for the heated floors. It currently has eight tires with less than 2,500 miles. 35,123 miles since the conversion. **SOLD AS A PAIR WITH LOT #452.1** **TITLE BRANDED AS OH 20040804 EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS**
