Details
This handsome 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Bubble Top is powered by a 409ci V8 engine with dual carburetors and a 4-speed manual transmission. As the VIN number indicates, this example was originally built in Janesville, WI, as a Bel Air 2-door Sport Coupe with an 8-cyclinder engine. Only 5,950 Bel Air Bubble Tops were built in 1962, which makes this a limited-production vehicle. The Bubble Top is an iconic design that stands out in a crowd. This example was the product of a frame-on restoration that was a labor of love. The owner chose to restore it as a nostalgic hot rod as you'd see back in the 1960s. The beautifully designed body was refinished in white, which dresses it well. The paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. The curving front windshield, door-vent glass, door glass, rear quarter glass and rear windshield are in very nice condition. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced, such as the stainless trim, front grille, front bumper, body molding, door handles, taillights, rear bumper and emblems. The car intentionally was raised slightly in the front for a killer stance. The car rolls on era-correct-style polished 5-spoke wheels wrapped with Pro-Trac 70 Racing Profile 225-70-15 tires on the front and Mickey Thompson Radial Dragster 8.20-15 tires on the rear. The exterior is complemented by a gorgeous two-tone red interior with a pattern design on the seat surfaces. The professionally installed white headliner provides a spacious feeling. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced, such as the chrome rearview mirror, dash instruments and hardware, steering wheel, a steering-column-mounted tachometer, kicker panels, door panels and hardware, seats, pedals and carpeting. Some of the custom features include a Stewart-Warner gauge cluster, Hurst chrome shifter with white shift knob and 409-embossed carpeted floor mats. The trunk compartment was refinished in the correct-style gray splatter paint. It was outfitted with the correct-style trunk mats and full-size spare tire. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The gold anodized hood hinges and latch assembly look great. The firewall was painted white, while the inner fenders and radiator support were painted black. The heart of this Bel Air is a rebuilt 409ci V8 engine that is fed with dual Carter 4-barrel carburetors. The engine was dressed with era-correct Offenhauser finned valve covers and dual air cleaners with hoses that breathe through the outer headlight buckets. It's equipped with a unique Delco Tron 20 DN alternator. A new radiator, shroud and fan keep the engine cool. The engine breathes through custom-made ceramic-coated headers and a dual exhaust system. The engine is coupled to a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission. The undercarriage is very clean throughout. It was refinished with textured paint for durability. The steering system, suspension components and braking system were gone through. This vehicle was recently serviced and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that's included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
