Description

Summary

A beautifully restored example of a low production model from an era of extravagant luxury and size.

Details

This beautifully restored 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V convertible is a fine example of one of a total production run of just 2,044. The 1960 Lincoln Continental epitomizes the post-war automotive period of excess in comfort, power, size, style and luxury. Form heads of state to music icons such as Elvis Presley, these cars represented a symbol of status and style that was envied by many. Originally a California car, it is equipped with the rare factory installed air conditioning option which

has just been fully reconditioned. In addition, this car is fitted with power steering, power windows, power radio antenna as well as the standard power 6-way adjustable front seat, power side vent windows and power rear 'breezeway' window. The 430cid/315hp V8 engine has just undergone a complete engine rebuild from top to bottom. The 'smooth as silk' 3-speed automatic transmission has also been recently overhauled. All electrical systems have been checked, reconditioned or replaced as required including new FoMoCo 'original'-style battery, high tension wires, coil, spark plugs, window and seat switches, new convertible top pump motor, generator and regulator. All undercarriage mechanicals including steering, suspension, fuel system and brakes have been reconditioned to original specifications. The car has just been outfitted with brand new 'original'-style wide white wall BFGoodrich tires to ensure safety and authenticity. The complete exhaust system is T304 stainless steel front and back. Coach work has undergone a professional restoration at which time the original black color was changed to a beautiful soft Pastel Yellow which was also an original Lincoln paint for 1960. To compliment this, a new black cloth Hartz Stay Fast convertible top has been fitted, complete with all new weather stripping. Chrome and stainless trim have been re-finished or buffed to a sparkling luster. All leather interior seats and door panels have been re-covered with supple black and white custom tanned leather hides matching the factory supplied color and grain. Original grade black carpeting has also been installed to complete this interior. Rest assured that this fine example of a luxury car icon from the 60's will provide years of pride and enjoyment for the next fortunate owner.
