This one-of-a-kind custom 1958 BMW Isetta 300 Sliding Window MotoCoupe has undergone a meticulous frame-off restoration over the course of two years, paying exceptional attention to all details. Completely disassembled down to the bare chassis, body and door, the engine, 4-speed manual transmission, and chaincase housing were removed, rebuilt and modified with a stroked crankshaft and a dual spark-plug head. All new seals, bearings, rings and gaskets were installed in the 1-cylinder, 12hp
engine. The carburetor was completely disassembled and rebuilt with all new components, polished along with the carburetor manifold and reinstalled. All aluminum parts were sandblasted and powder-coated, including the engine block, cylinder head, transmission housing, chaincase housings and front steering knuckles. The chassis and all related parts were sandblasted and powder-coated as well. All rubber parts, window seals, drive couplers and bushings were replaced. The front door fresh-air grilles were cleaned and powder-coated Candy Apple Red. New shocks were installed. 95% of the original hardware was sandblasted and replated with a zinc coating, preserving the original manufacturer's production markings. New hardware was used where it was necessary. The body was expertly restored and painted gloss black with pearl red trim, resulting in an impeccable finish. The windows were deep-tinted to continue the dark theme of the car. Where necessary, some parts were rechromed; others were powder-coated with a Candy Apple Red finish. The bumpers and front/rear turn indicators were removed for a frenched look. The interior was finished in black with red piping, and trim accent pieces were powder-coated in Candy Apple Red. All electrical components were removed, cleaned and tested prior to reassembly. All brake components were rebuilt with new parts, and new brake linings were applied to the brake shoes. A brand-new set of Michelin radials completed the restoration. This example won the Veteran's Choice award at The Little Car Show in Pacific Grove, CA, after the restoration was completed.
