Details
This is in very original condition. BMW built the Isetta in Germany under a license agreement from the Italian company ISO SpA. They used their motorcycle engine, which enabled them to be the first mass-produced micro cars. Production started in 1955 and lasted until 1962 with a total of 161,728 cars built. BMW's claim of 78 mpg made them the most economical car in the world. Because of its egg shape, it became known as a bubble car. The BMW Isetta sets the standard for all microcars today. With an older restoration, this example doesn't showing any aging. It has been garage-kept all its life and is equipped with the rear luggage rack option with a period-correct vintage suitcase. The single-cylinder 298cc engine and 4-speed manual drivetrain are in great condition and operate well. This car is very presentable and drivable.
