Details
The famous Al Scheib car. It is powered by a 71 Hemi V-8 that powered Parnelli Jones' Vels Plymouth Cuda Funny Car. The only changes are a milder cam and Hilborn intake to make it more streetable. It has a Monster BDS Supercharger and, when running on nitrous, it develops 1,485 BHP and 1,250 LB-FT of torque. 'Start up the blown Hemi and just listen to the sound - it's enough to make anyone weak at the knees. With a torqueflite transmission and monster rear tires, the power is well harnessed. Even though the car goes ballistic once the accelerator hits the floor, it feels stable and controllable, a trait seldom found in such high powered street machines. With overdrive, premium shocks and comfortable driver's seat, it is also good for summertime cruising.' This is the car that was replicated by Mattel Hotwheels in their 40th anniversary signature series in 1:48 scale. It has been featured in many magazines and on Speedvision TV. It is on display at the Petersen Museum and is currently licensed for street use.
