Details

This 57 Nomad is a very unique mild custom with both exterior and interior changes and upgrades to the drivetrain. The absolutely breathtaking colors and layout of the complex paint made this Nomad totally unique and led the way for the car to become one of the most famous custom cars of the era. It is powered by a 350ci engine, automatic transmission. The rest of the build was all in good taste, the black full custom naugahyde interior, the buildup and detail in the engine compartment, the wheel choice of 53 Buick wire spoke wheels, the perfect rake and stance all came together but it was that paint, that jaw dropping, highly detailed custom paint work that set this car apart from all others. Rod & Custom Magazine did a great photo shoot on the beach at Malibu and not only did the story make the issue in May of 1967, but the Hollingsworth Nomad was featured on the cover. This car of course became instantly famous and shortly after became the subject of a new release Revell 1/24 scale model kit that remained available with numerous reissues for over 25 years. This Nomad of all Nomads became the dream car of a multitude of young enthusiasts and still today is referred to as one of the most beautiful custom cars of all time. A total restoration ensued in 2011 with a goal of having a very exact appearing copy of this famous car but more modern mechanicals to allow safe and reliable cruising in today’s traffic. All suspension, steering and braking were restored and upgraded and the power plant would be a new GM Performance 350 crate motor backed up with a fresh B&M TurboHydramatic. A complete new black full custom interior closely mimicking the style of the day was done with all of this resulting in a car that will ride and drive as you would expect. Has same custom colors used in the day were disclosed in the Rod & Custom story. An incredible amount of hours went into this most important part of the build. It truly is one spectacular look, a piece of art that captures the dream car style of era. Timeless in its beauty, the car is still a showstopper anywhere it goes.
