Details

The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is arguably the epitome of 1950s elegance, excess, and sophistication. Only 1,800 were ever built, and each one retailed for a $7,200 when new. When combined with the wrap-around gull-wing style bumper treatment, dramatic egg-crate grille, Dagmars and Sabre wheels, the Biarritz exuded an unexpected sporting curb appeal. Under the hood resided a silken 325hp 365ci V8 engine which was crowned by the instantly recognizable bat-wing air cleaner painted gold, dual

4-barrell carburetors, and was backed by a 4-speed Hydramatic transmission. Stopping power was provided by a hydraulic braking system with power-assist - a good thing considering the Cadillac's 4,620-pound curb weight. Features included wide whites, a power soft top and windows, 6-way power seat adjustment, a soft-close trunk lid along with a remote trunk release, Autronic eye for automatic high-beam operation, courtesy lamps, a fold-down armrest, and a parade boot that perfectly finishes off the top-down look. 1957 was also the last year for single headlamps which added to the sporting flair preferred by many collectors. This wonderfully preserved example is best known for being purchased from the Newell Coach collection at Barrett-Jackson's sale in 1994. It is shown in its correct Olympic White exterior and black leather interior, along with a black soft top and its aluminum Sabre wheels. A thorough cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment in the early 2000s has held up well over the years, and the mileage is thought to be original. This piece of history has documented West Coast ownership since the mid-1990s, showing thorough pride of ownership. Includes a full-size spare, jack, the parade boot and a book of receipts and photographs.
