This 1956 oval window has just finished a meticulous ground-up restoration. This car was sold new in Sweden in 1956. It was purchased by the second owner who shipped it to New York in 1988. He then drove the car to Arizona where he sold it to the 3rd owner in 1990. The 3rd owner stored the car until a year ago when he decided to have the car completely restored back to the original German specifications. The exterior was stripped down to the metal and refinished in the original Reed Green. Two

fenders had some rust issues and were replaced by 2 original fenders that were flown in from Germany. This being a vehicle built for the German market, it has factory semaphore turn signals, original glass tail lights, original bumpers, which were stripped and refinished and of course the rare factory rear oval window. Every piece of rubber trim on the vehicle was replaced with new German rubber. New running boards and exterior trim. The front crest is original equipment from 1956. Powered by the original 1200cc, 36hp motor and matching numbers 4-speed transmission. The motor was completely rebuilt by a master VW technician and it runs and drives like new. The interior cloth had to be ordered and flown in from Germany. The seats were shipped to Southern California where they were recovered by West Coast Classic Restorations. Less than 50 kilometers driven since completion.
