1956 FORD THUNDERBIRD CUSTOM TOPLESS ROADSTER

Details

This custom 1956 Ford Thunderbird topless roadster was built by RMD Garage and is powered by a 650hp Gen II 5.0 Coyote engine paired with a 6R80 6-speed transmission, with a Vortech supercharger Mustang kit. A Borla 3-inch polished mirror stainless-steel pipe lets the engine breathe. The undercarriage has a built-in-house custom chassis, 4-link adjustable coilover RideTech suspension and a Ford 9-inch rear end. It also has a Wilwood powered brake system with 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors,

6-piston front calipers and 4-piston in the rear. This car sits on 19x8 and 20x12 Schott wheels wrapped in the proxy Toyo tires. The first modification was to remove the hardtop by creating two individual steel cowls, then tapered bumpers that were cut and recessed to flush with the fenders and quarter-panels. The engine bay has been modified to hide all the components except for the engine. The grille, badging on the front end, gas cap and seats, garnish moldings and the FREEBIRD script badges on the quarter-panels give this Thunderbird its own identity. It is finished in a BASF R-M two-stage basecoat/clearcoat Galaxy Gray Pearl. With the help of Moore & Giles Leathers, RMD found a vivid Scarlet Red for the interior, which features power seats, power windows, custom door panels, an air conditioning unit with vents from Restomod Air and a custom center console with integrated wireless phone charger and Bluetooth retro radio. A very appealing aluminum Sparc Industries steering wheel and a dash cluster from Classic Instruments. Finally, handcrafted trim and moldings were added throughout, which were sent out for a deep beautiful chrome-plating finish.
