1956 marked the first year Zora Duntov designed and became the Chief Engineer of the Corvette. With only 3,467 cars built in that year, the Corvette's destiny as America's premier competitive sports car would take shape with that very model. Many of the problems that plagued the 1953-1955 models were addressed and the new design featured outside door handles, roll-up windows and a factory sourced hardtop became available. Power windows and a power top were options. This Corvette is the product

of meticulous frame-off restoration. It is presented in correct Venetian Red with Shoreline Beige coves and it retains its original dual 4 barrel carbureted 265cid small-block V8 and 3-speed manual transmission. This particular Corvette is additionally rare, as it is one of only 547 examples that were ordered new with factory power windows (RPO 426). The restoration, which was completed over a three year period, was performed to exacting specifications with excellent results. The body showcases excellent panel fit and gaps, brilliant bright work and stunning paint. Likewise, the interior features near flawless red vinyl upholstery and carpeting, signal seeking AM radio and factory heater. This example is equipped with a beige softtop in lieu of the often seen black and white tops, and features correct white wall tires. The original auxiliary hardtop is also included. On file with this Corvette are previous awards won and an organized binder with photo documentation of the restoration, as well as receipts and invoices for restoration work.
