Details
In 1956, Cadillac made only 8,300 Series 62 convertibles. This 1956 Custom Cadillac Series 62 convertible was built by award-winning builder Joe Peck Customs in Van Nuys, CA. Over seven years and thousands of shop hours, this dry, Southern California car was completely disassembled and customized. The body was taken off the frame, and Rich and Famous Auto Body of Van Nuys did a two-year, step-by-step restoration. They sandblasted, prepped and painted each of the body pieces separately and applied a deep smooth, wet, black finish. The frame was stripped, cleaned and repainted in a gorgeous red. A close picture of the VIN stamp in the frame verifies the originality of the car. This original frame was custom-notched to perfectly accommodate the Cadillac LSA 556hp V8 engine. This no-expense-spared custom convertible has all-new glass and new suspension and features power steering, Wilwood power brakes and a power top. The 556hp supercharged LSA Cadillac crate engine is mated to a 6L90 6-speed automatic transmission and has been upgraded with a Concept One pulley system. The original rear end has been replaced by a Ford 9-inch rear end with posi-traction and 3.25 running gears. All four corners have adjustable RideTech shocks, with 2-inch drop spindles in front. Rick's Gas Tanks built a custom stainless steel tank with a vapor works fuel control system. A polished Mattson's radiator and intercooler system keep the supercharged engine cool. The car rides on 17-inch Wheel Smith Cadillac wire wheels wrapped in Diamondback redline tires. The custom interior was built by award-winning specialist Albert Lara from North Hollywood, CA. The steering wheel was restored by re-pouring the plastic into an original mold for a 1956 Cadillac steering wheel. The dash is wrapped in leather, and the original seats and benches were restored and covered in a custom blood red leather. Thick black Mercedes carpet keeps this interior comfortable and quiet. All the original chrome and stainless steel pieces were straightened, dipped and polished by ABG Polish in Southern California. The original gauge cluster has been restored, and hidden inside the original glove box is a modern touch screen that reports all the motor's output, including mph, oil pressure, fuel level, tachometer and more. 500 test miles.
