Details
This classic '55 Red Bel Air hardtop is one of the nicer Resto-Mod, Pro-Touring show cars in the state of Oregon. This car is perfect for long cross country tours, shows, or other types of gatherings. It has 16,500 miles since completion of the frame-off restoration. It has received over 75 trophies in Oregon, Washington and California. These trophies include many Best of Show, Best Engine Compartment, Best Interior, and bunches of Best '55-'57 Chevy. This 1955 Bel Air is powered by a low
mileage 1995 Police Caprice 350cid engine. The factory computer has been re-flashed for maximum power at wide open throttle. It drives thru a factory remanufactured 4L60E transmission with less than 4000 miles on it. The rear end is a custom narrowed Ford 9' with high strength axles installed. Braking is by a chrome plated dual chamber booster, with a Chrome plated master cylinder attached. The brake lines connect at all 4 corners to Red Wilwood brake calipers with slotted and drilled rotors. The engine compartment is notable as everything under the hood is painted body color, chrome plated, stainless steel, or polished aluminum. There are two suction fans behind the radiator that come on via the temperature sensor. The custom interior is all done in medium gray leather with dark gray tweed inserts in the seats for comfort and contrast. The front bucket seats are 6-way power operated for added convenience. A matching gray central console provides extra storage space for maps and miscellaneous. It also has two fold out cup holders. As a special item to add to the interior there are two logos embroidered on the door panels which say '55LT1'. Instruments and clock are by Dakota Digital. The heating and air conditioning system is by Vintage Air. The tilt steering wheel and column are by IDIDIT. The custom fully upholstered trunk is done in gray leather with gray contrasting carpet. There are two custom storage areas located on the inside of the rear fenders. The drivers' side compartment has a set of chrome plated box end, open end wrenches. The passenger side compartment contains a Fire Extinguisher, and Flat tire blow-up and Seal canister. This car was featured in the October 2006 Super Chevy magazine. The awards do not go with the car. One flaw in the car is the passenger power forward / reverse switch sticks and must be cancelled.
