1954 PLYMOUTH 'SNIPER' CUSTOM

Considered one of the most significant custom built street rods, 'Sniper' was commissioned with the directive 'build something different'. Designed by Chip Foose, and built by Troy Trepanier's company, Rad Rides by Troy, this creation began as a 1954 Chrysler Belvedere Convertible. Body modifications include a custom hand-built roof and windshield pillars, the deck lid is lengthened 14-inches and incorporates reshaped wheel wells, roll pan and smooth doors. The unusual combination of deep moss green and Spanish olive green PPG enamel by Bob Tanner. Modified Recaro seats, oliver green leather, suede and carbon fiber accents set off the interior that includes a custom dashboard with Viper gauges and steering wheel. The hand-built chassis incorporates the suspension from a 1997 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe, narrowed by 10-inches front and rear. The four-wheel disc brakes are also from a Viper and stop the 18-inch front and 20-inch rear Boyds custom aluminum wheels. There are 14 body mount points to add to the overall rigidity between the chassis and body in order to accommodate the tremendous torque output of the 488 cu.in. Viper V-10 engine. The Viper engine is hooked up to a Viper 6-speed Borg Warner manual gearbox. Unveiled at Petersen Publishing's 50th Anniversary party for Hot Rod Magazine at SEMA, this multiple award winning car represents what Hot Rodding has become in that time span.

This is a unique and superbly crafted vehicle that has been awarded many prestigeous honors. It was nominated by Hot Rod Magazine as one of their top ten of the year and appeared on the magazine cover.
