Description
This 1954 Kaiser Darrin convertible was the first American sports car with its prototype introduced even before that of the Corvette and Thunderbird. Always a forward thinker, Darrin incorporated his patented iconic sliding 'pocket' doors. Bodies for the Kaiser Darrin were supplied by Glasspar Boat Company, a pioneer in the use of fiberglass for specialized cars. This is car #239 out of only 435 units produced. This one-year-only limited production automobile was designed by famous coachbuilder Howard 'Dutch' Darrin and produced by industrialist Henry Kaiser's Kaiser-Frazer Auto Company. Finished in a very elegant black exterior over a black interior color combination with wire wheel caps and whitewall tires. Powered by an L-head 161ci 6-cylinder Willys engine mated to a manual transmission. A rare opportunity to own a fascinating piece of automotive history.
