Details

This 1953 Oldsmobile 88 two door hardtop is a multiple award winning custom. The body modification details could almost fill a novel. To start with the profile, all stock side moldings and door handles were removed and smoothed to get the sleek look. In the front, '54 Ford headlights were frenched into the front fenders. Hundreds of hours of metal modification went into the custom grille with '54 Chevy inserts. The front bumper was completely cut apart before being reshaped and plated, then

fitted with a flush-mounted splash filler. Not to be over shadowed by the rest of the car, the rear features '57 Packard taillights molded into the custom rear quarter panels. Like the front bumper, the rear bumper was completely reshaped and mounted with a flush fitting bumper splash pan. The engine compartment contains a Chevy LT1 converted to resemble a vintage Olds rocket motor. The custom inner fenders and rolled radiator cover keep the smooth styling consistent under the hood. The engine is backed by a 700R transmission. The smooth ride and killer stance is a combination of a Heidts independent front suspension system with air ride system both front and rear. The interior is as impressive as the exterior. The seats and door panels are covered in tan ultra leather, highlighted with body color accents. The dash is restored to the original elegance with new Hame line gauges fitted into its original spot. A color matched vintage Chevrolet steering wheel completes the look. Other features include a hidden sound system, hidden air ride gauges, heat and air conditioning, and keyless entry. The quality and craftsmanship make this car a real standout. It has received an award at every Goodguys event it has attended and is a current Street Rodder Top 100 pick for 2010.
