Details
This 1951 Crosley had been sitting in the front of an antique trading post, in the Midwest, as an advertising prop for 20 years. White with a blue interior, the wagon features a 4-cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission, with hand-painted 'Good Humor Ice Cream' artwork. The current owner renovated the original station wagon over a three-year period, while at the same time unearthing the history of this treasure. The truck was built by Amerio Refrigeration out of Union City, NJ, known for
customizing larger trucks and turning them into ice cream trucks. Not many people knew they also manufactured this rare small version with a cold plate refrigeration system. The truck owner would simply plug in the 110V compressor, allowing the plates to chill inside the box overnight, when unplugged the next morning the plates would stay cold all day, or the driver could simply use dry ice.
