Details
Body # 1047 (production sequence 47) made by Hercules body company of Evansville, IN, using an ash frame and birch panels. Packard ordered the bodies from Hercules, and they were shipped to Packard and then installed at the factory in Detroit. During 1998 to 2001 it was thoroughly restored by a California collector. It's stunning in Packard Maroon paint, beautifully refinished original wood and nicely trimmed tan interior with proper wool carpeting. The dashboard wood was redone properly and chrome plating is fresh and beautiful. The top material is the correct heavy grain, sitting atop the beautiful wood roof spars that are visible from the interior of the car. Mechanically the woody operates great with even compression on all cylinders and the rebuilt transmission and factory overdrive provide freeway ready performance. It is a delightful car to drive. Factory independent front suspension and hydraulic drum brakes.
