Details

This original 1940 Ford Deluxe Businessman's Coupe has been the recipient of a body-off full restoration. At its heart is a fresh Ford Racing 302ci engine with a long-block crate engine with street or strip aluminum heads and an E303 camshaft. An additional oil cooler was added, along with a further myriad of performance parts. These include a March serpentine drive kit with pulleys, a March aluminum water pump, Edelbrock Performer air-gap intake, Edelbrock valve covers with breather, and ARP fasteners and NPT fittings used throughout. It fires up via a Powermaster high-torque starter, BG electric fuel pump and an MSD distributor, with its wires kept tidy by a billet wiring loom. The crate engine is married to a rebuilt C4 automatic with a shift kit, transmission cooler and a Hughes finned pan for added cooling. At its rear is a Ford 9-inch posi-traction rear end with 3.25 gears. To keep things cool are a custom-built Griffin aluminum radiator with fan control and Coolflex hoses. Furthermore, plumbed off this well-crafted engine are ceramic-coated polished headers mated to a stainless-steel exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers. The '40 sits atop a new black powder-coated, Total Cost Involved (TCI) chassis, complete with a TCI stainless-steel IFS, TCI stainless-steel 4 bar-link parallel kit, TCI rear Panhard bar kit and rear coilovers. Stopping power is finished with stainless-steel brake lines, a stainless-steel reservoir, proportioning valve, TCI power brake assembly, and polished Wilwood calipers and disc brakes on all four corners. Finishing the ride are American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, 14x6.5s on the front and 15x7s on the rear. The coupe, from bumper to bumper is wired by a Painless wiring system keeping everything lit and running smooth. It also benefits from a new Optima gel pack battery housed in a custom tray, remote terminals and completes with a vehicle hidden kill switch for added security. This coupe features a complete interior styled to a near-stock appearance. Details include billet aluminum armrests, Phipps billet aluminum courtesy lights, spoon pedals, an Ididit polished aluminum tilt column and stainless-steel strips running the finished trunk floor. The banjo steering wheel is provided by Grant, and a new Lokar handbrake with trim ring and stainless-steel door looms were outfitted. Road noise is kept at a minimum with B-Quiet insulation and comfort is provided by Glide Engineering seat frames. Further subtle touches include power windows that utilize the original window cranks from Hotronics, a Lokar slender gooseneck shifter, and a Vintage Air system. The dash is appointed with VDO Arctic White gauges installed with a clock and a column-mounted tach. Autosound Secret Audio controls the audio system with a remote and an 8-inch Slim Pioneer subwoofer, with Clarion speakers and a Clarion amp finishing the sound system. Lastly, rain and weather are kept out of this well-appointed cabin by the way of new door seals, rubber gaskets and window felts. The exterior is completely restored and trimmed with all new parts. Polished chrome bumpers, trim and script were sourced from Bob Drake and Denis Carpenter. All-new glass was cut and outfitted, along with new rubber-step running boards and glass lenses. All lights have been upgraded to LED for modern illumination, yet concealed under factory-style glass lenses, maintaining a factory look. Four large books accompany the sale containing all receipts, restoration, instruction manuals and documentation history pertaining to this 1940 Ford Deluxe. **TITLED AS 1940 FORD SPECON** **TITLE IN TRANSIT** **SOLD ON BONDED TITLE**
